As the construction industry continues to evolve, it is also starting to embrace diversity. Despite the progress, the industry remains male dominated, with only 11% of the total construction workforce comprising of women.

Women continue to make strides in this male dominated industry but there is still a long way to go to reduce the disparity between the number of males and females entering the industry. At Triumphant Zoe Property women’s month is a great opportunity to highlight one of the missions very close to our heart which is to increase the participation of women in the construction industry.

As part of our Women’s Day celebrations, we asked the women at Triumphant Zoe what being a Women means to them and this is what they had to say:

“Being a woman means being able to be powerful and assertive, yet kind at the same time. It means being compassionate and vulnerable towards those we love in our lives without feeling week for doing so. It means striving for our goals even in the face of the adversity we may encounter along the way” -Nomfundo

“It means being valuable, having strong sense of identity, being confident, and building up the people in your life. I think women’s day is celebrated to commemorate the cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements of women. It emphasizes on women’s rights movement and brings attention to issues like gender equality, violence, and abuse against women”-Yonwaba

“A woman is someone who isn't afraid to share her opinions and speak her truth. She listens, but she doesn't allow others’ problems to bring her down. She is filled with kindness, generosity, compassion, integrity, a willingness to be vulnerable, and authenticity. No matter what she is true to herself. #BE YOU!!”-Mulweli

In Conclusion, women’s month is a time where we highlight the changes which are needed to ensure gender equality and most importantly, this month dedicated to recognising the achievements of the amazing women we work with.

Happy Women’s Month South Africa!
